IS XP COMPATIBLE WITH THE THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE?
LOOK FOR YOURSELF
At the time of marketing the Microsoft Vista, it trumpeted the foundational technologies to usher the killer applications with some of the applications like the WinFS fell by the way. The Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) has been proven as nothing but just a .Net Framework being back-ported to XP when the developers balked the idea of Vista. When the Microsoft made these announcements, then the ones who
knew the know how of the software could not help but laugh as there is no one who would undertake to produce any complex piece of traditional client software using sluggish, bug-ridden .Net Framework until unless he is not insane.
THE CONCLUSION
ISVs will take the path where they see more money which at the moment is the Win32 API running on the Windows platforms with the exceptions being the tools or utilities targeting Vista functions like the new boot loader and sidebar widgets. When with the XP, you cannot miss the third party applications any which ways.
