The battery is Li-Ion 1200 mAh giving a talk time of 8 hours 30 minutes and 310 hours on the standby mode.
DESIGN OF SAMSUNG i8510 INNOV8
It has the combination of metal and plastic with a flat keypad with a coloured screen on the front and a video camera above it. It even has an ambient light sensor for automatic brightness adjustment with a shiny display. It has a D pad easy to use and the optical touch pad.
You can do the selections by moving your thumb across the pad and a quick sweep moves a single item at a time with a slower sweep makes you jump several items at a time. You have the option to switch off the touch pad function making you forget completely about it and switching over to the alphanumeric keypad that has 2 multimedia shortcuts namely M1 which takes you to music library and M2 that takes you to the video library.
At the left is the audio jack and the new micro USB port for charging and data connections.
At the right is the home to the camera key, the microSD slot and the camera mode slider.
At the back is the still camera with the stereo speakers on both sides of the lens.
The battery cover is metal completely which can be sided with the whole bottom part panel to release it.
DRAWBACK OF THE SAMSUNG i8510 INNOV8
Samsung i8510 INNOV8 is a big handset and also when the slider is opened; it stops convenient operation with both the navigation pad and the alphanumeric keys that also makes the balancing of the weight of the upper half with your index finger difficult.
IMAGING OF THE SAMSUNG i8510 INNOV8
The auto screen rotation has nothing special to offer. There is also a lag in image opening that is considered a pre-production bug that will be fixed. The camera has its image gallery looking better and accessible if you slide the camera mode switch to gallery. The auto screen rotations works great with the image editor accessible only from this gallery. The colors of the images are spot on, a high resolution and the right balance for processing that manages to suppress the noise and leave the tiny detail
MUSIC PLAYER IN THE SAMSUNG i8510 INNOV8
It has the Symbian music player where sorting of tracks can be done by artists, album, genre, composer and searching tracks by general typing. The player comes with many equalizer presets and can also be terminated as a running process when not needed. It even has a video editor allowing to edit and create videos of still images as a result. It becomes a versatile application. It has an FM radio with RDS support, recording of radio broadcasts, though no equalizers are available for the FM.
INTERNET SURFING IN THE SAMSUNG i8510 INNOV8
It is a pleasure to browse the internet on this phone as the page rendering content fits perfectly on the screen looking exactly like on the PC. There is a support in the phone which you can turn off and also does YouTube videos directly from the home page. The touch pad acts as a mouse pointer taking it to a level above. However, the browser does not have a full screen view mode but has overlaying toolbar with the shortcuts.
Samsung Innov8 has also a built in GPS receiver with the support and GPS centric applications. The GPS data application provides you with raw satellite data and allowing you to setup basic navigation routes to a stored landmark or to a set of GPS coordinates. It also has the Google maps pre installed
COMPARABILITY TO OTHERS
Compared to Samsung i900 Omnia and iPhone 3G from Apple, Samsung 18510 Innov8 is still a better one for camera being 8 MP offering excellent video recording also. It has the capability to capture MPEG4 video at 30fps in VGA resolution and a high speed of video recording to make slow motion videos.
