Problems faced by users…

Went the product displays 3 red lights which indicate a general hardware failure it’s also called the red ring of death.

The product faces many tech problems as the console is released in 2005 the product earned questioning reliability n failure of the product at the rate of the consoles.

To answer the quest of the customers Microsoft extended the manufactured warranty to 3 yrs even fro hardware failure problems that generate a general hardware failure error report. This is recognized by the ring of death went 3 red lights r indicating general hardware failure. The warranty is not granted for any other failure.

To improved the reliability Microsoft has worked real hard to since these problems have cum up. Microsoft has modified the no. , size n placement of the components, the addition dabs of epoxy on the corners n edges of CPU n GPU as glue to prevent any kind of movement relative to the board during heat expansion. This modification is made only in the new consoles or also for the ones which go for repairing at the Microsoft’s or unauthorized repair centers.

Xbox Live Dashboard

A basic non subscription service , silver was added to already existing premium based subscription based service when Xbox live went through a major upgrade on the day of Xbox 360,s release as it was shut down for 24 hrs. Its toll free n includes all SKUs of the console. The user can create a users profile, join message boards, and access Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade and Marketplace and talk to other members. A silver account doesn’t generally support multiplayer gaming. However it supports sum of the nine games which have limited online functions and games that feature their own subscription service are supported by this account. Voice n video conference is also supported by this type of account. The Gamer card of a player with a Silver account has a silver trim, rather than gold.

Xbox gold is very much similar to Silver n also includes integrated game playing capabilities outside of third-party subscriptions. The previous have been allowed to maintain their pro info; friend’s list n went they change their account to Gold. Passport info n the last 4 digits are required for a user to add an Xbox live enabled profile to their console which is used for their verification purposes n billing. An Xbox Live Gold account has an annual cost of US$49.99, C$59.99, NZD 90.00, GB£39.99, or €59.99. As of May 14, 2008, Xbox Live has over 12 million subscribers.

Xbox Live Marketplace

To allow the users to download purchased or promotional content an Xbox Live Marketplace, a virtual market is designed… a few features are common to both silver n gold members on Xbox live. To purchase stuff form the market a HAR DRIVE OR MEMORY UNIT IS REQUIRED. An Xbox pipeline helps users to see the things available for download on the services thru a PC. Most of d people have doweled these entire 4m marketplace.

Halo 3

100 new games were announced by Microsoft till the end of the year at the 2008 Game Developer Conference. .Xbox 360 platform was honored with 38 nominations n 11 wins at the 2007 game critic award which was more then any other platform. Xbox 360 made a record by reaching a software attach rate of 7.5 per console, in EU the rate was 7.0 while its competitors were 3.8 (PS3) and 3.5.

It was launched with 14 games in northern America n 13 in Europe. The best selling game, which sold over a million copies, was Call of Duty 2. there were 5 other games in the first year  of  console in the market- Ghost Recon Advanced War fighter, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Dead or Alive 4, Saints Row and Gears of War. Gears of War would become the best-selling game of the console with 3 million units, before being surpassed in 2007 by Halo 3, with 8.1 million units.

Initially Xbox offered 6 games in Japan followed by dead or alive 4 n enchanted arms a few weeks l8r. Games according to the region were thought of n since have been released such as Chrome hounds, Ninety-Nine Nights, and Phantasm Star Universe. Microsoft also had the support of RPG developer Mist walker, founded by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi. Mist walker’s first game, Blue Dragon, was released in 2006 and had a limited-edition bundle which sold out quickly with over 10,000 pre-orders… with over 200,000 units blue dragon became the best seller in the region. 100,000 copies of mist walker’s second game were also sold.

Xbox has been able to cope up with the release of titles which were originally planned to be PS3 exclusive, including  Devil May Cry, Ace Combat, Virtual Fighter, and Final Fantasy XIII..

The arrival of the Disney movies in the Xbox 360 live market was announced by Microsoft at E3 2007. Also the arrival of Gears of Wars for the PC was announced. Exclusive trailers of Halo 3 n Halo wars were shown. Announcement of Halo themed Xbox ws also made. Among other games  Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, Fable II, and Resident Evil 5,Saint’s Row 2 were the titles announced for 2009 line up at E3 2008.
