DIMENSIONS AND DESIGN OF THE Wii
The Wii measures around 44mm in width, 157mm tall and 215.4 in depth, almost equal to 3 DVD cases stuck together giving rise to the smallest gaming console from Nintendo. Its stand is of measure: 55.4mm in width, 44mm tall and 225.6mm in depth. The weight of the whole system is about 1.2kgbmaking it lightest of all the three major consoles of the seventh generation.
The console has recurring themes which include the console along with the SD Cards, the power supply and the sockets chipped from one corners in a triangular form. The console has an illuminated slot for the optical media drive accepting both the 12cm Wii optical disk and Nintendo game cube game discs where the blue light illuminates when the console is switched on and it blinks when new data is received. In its updated version, the light illuminates whenever the disc is inserted o ejected. It has USB ports in the front and an SD slot card behind the cover which can be used for uploading photos and baking up a saved game data and download virtual game.
COMPONENTS OF Wii
Nintendo Wii comes with the console, stand so that it can be placed vertically, a circular clear stabilizer for the main stand, Nunchuk attachment, a sensor bar. a removable stand for the bar, an external main power adapter,2 AA batteries, a composite AV cable with RCA connectors, a scar adapter, an operation documentation and a WIRELESS CONTROLLER, a remote control that can easily be converted to be used as a handheld pointing device and let us detect three dimensional movements.
It has another very different characteristic that is the Wiiconnect24 that lets the Nintendo receive updates and messages when in the standby mode over the internet. It was launched in many different colors of white, black, silver, lime green, and red but today, its is available only in white and the other color will soon be available after they meet the limitation supplies of Wii in other countries.

Wii can be hacked to make it perform those activities which are not intended by Nintendo with the help of several brands of modchips.

The Nintendo Wii is influenced from the design of the Nintendo DS AS Nintendo DS had hit the markets with a bang. It was initially hidden to the general public that here was a remote with this version of the Nintendo and the box had only the picture of the console with the remote packed inside and later, at the September Tokyo Game show its remote was revealed
.It was heard that the designers of the Nintendo used the Four Actions Framework from the book The Blue Ocean which would eliminate movie playing, reduce graphics and physics, raise the fun and the game library and thereby lead to the creation of their Magic Wand that was the remote control. Besides having powerful graphics, the console even hits a different demographic.
LAUNCH OF THE Wii
It was first launched on 14th September 2006 in Japan, North America, South America, Australia, Asia and Europe. Most of the shipments went to America and there was a shortage in the United Kingdom. It was later released in Taiwan and South Korea and will be released in China within some time. It had beaten the Xbox 360 in its sales which was released a year before the Wii.
MEANING OF THE NAME” NINTENDO Wii “
The name is only Wii and not Nintendo Wii as it is believed to be the first home console Nintendo had marketed outside Japan without its trademark. Wiz is a plural for console. It was known by the code name of:” Revolution”. The deeper meaning behind the i’s of the Wii is that they signify two people standing side by side as players gathering together and also to represent the remote and the Nun chunk. It is also considered that Wii sounds more like WE which means that the console is for everyone no matter what language they speak or where they live. Although, soon people started to take Wii as a kiddish name and there were many bad jokes regarding the name on the internet but this was cleared out by the president of Nintendo, later. Wii is short, easily pronounced and a little different.

Nintendo Wii is a Video Game Console manufactured by Nintendo of the Seventh Generation Era. It was first available on the 19th of November 2006.For Nintendo Wii to work the requirements are as follows:
CPU must be power based by IBM “Broadway” made with a 90 nm SOI CMOS process.
GPU should be of ATI Hollywood made with a 90 nm CMOS process clicked at 243 MHz.
The media requires a 12 cm Wii optical disk, an 8cm Nintendo game cube game disk and a slot loading disc drive compatible with these two.
The system storage should have at least 512 MB Internal flash memory, a Secure Digital Card, expanded storage via SD card of 2 GB and a Nintendo Game Cube Memory Card.
For the connectivity, there should be a Wi-Fi, a Bluetooth, a 2 x USB 2.0 and a LAN Adapter (via USB).
The online connection must include the Nintendo WI-Fi connection, Wiiconnect24 and Wii shop channel.
88 MB main memory, 3 MB embedded GPU texture memory and frame buffer.
There are a total of 29.62 million units shipped of Nintendo Wii worldwide which shows the great demands of it. It is the next version of the NINTENDO GAMECUBE.
WHAT IS NINTENDO Wii?
Nintendo Wii is a video gaming console as a seventh generation of Nintendo and stands in competition to the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony Play station 3 as it believes that it has broader demographic target consoles than any of the two. Wii is leading in its sales as of September 2007.It is Nintendo’s fifth gaming console and has the capacity to play all official Game Cube Games. At E3 2006, the console won it’s first ever award and had completed its launch in the four major world markets.
