THE LINCOLN MKS IS LAUNCHED

The Lincoln MKS is a premium full size, 4 door sedan manufactured by Lincoln having the Ford Motor Companies as its parent company. The present 2008 production of the car is going on in Assembly Ford Chicago Assembly, Chicago, Illinois, USA with the predecessor of the car as Lincoln Town Car. Lincoln MKS has a layout of Front engine, a 4 wheel, front wheel drive car having an engine of 3.7L DOHC V6 and 3.7L Twin-Turbocharged DOHC V6 (Eco boost) and a Ford D3 platform. The transmission of the MKS is Ford 6F 6-speed automatic, a wheel base of 112.9 in (2868 mm), length of 204.1 in (5184 mm), width of 75.9 in (1928 mm) and a height 61.6 in (1565 mm).

A SNEEK PEAK INTO THE LINCOLN MKS

The Lincoln MKS is a new midsize-to-large flagship sedan that has replaced the previous vehicles in those segments as a part of Lincoln’s vehicle replacement strategy where the smaller 2006 Zephyr are the replacement for the V6 version of the LS, while the larger MKS sedan appeals the consumers who have chosen powerful and upscale V8-powered LS. The MKS, code named D385, has a new unique body style based on the full-size Ford D3 platform, which is further based on the Volvo platform acquired after Ford Motor Company purchased Volvo Cars division in 1999. This underpinned outgoing Volvo S80 utilizing it in the 2008 and newer Ford Taurus and the Mercury Sable.
The car was equipped with a:

      4.4 L Ford/Yamaha V8 debuted in the Volvo XC90.

      A larger 3.7L version of the Cyclone V6 earlier used in the Lincoln MKZ and Lincoln MKX.

      A twin turbocharged EcoBoost version of the engine with direct injection

      The 3.5L engine with Direct Injection makes upwards of 340 HP.

      The MKS uses a FWD platform, but offers all wheel drive as an option.
The MKS is the first application including the door unlocking system and ignition activation by a passkey carried by the driver.

      A familiar 5-digit code entry system has been updated by making the keypad invisible until a heat sensor detects a hand nearby.

      It has with it, Ford’s adaptive cruise control using radar to monitor up to 600 feet (183 m) ahead of the vehicle to apply the brakes automatically for minor speed adjustments.

      It has SYNC which is Ford’s new voice responsive communication system.

      Ford’s cap less fuel filler, which makes refueling convenient ensuring a tighter seal of the gas tank to reduce escaped fuel vapors.
The MKS has rain-sensing windshield wipers.

      A rearview camera system,

      Front and rear park assist,

      THX sound system with full 5.1 surround sound.

The cost of the Lincoln MKS starts at $37,655 for the FWD model, and $39,555 for the AWD model.
