CONTROVERSIES OF THE iPhone

LG claimed that the design of the phone was copied from their LG Prada..

The Info gear filed for a US trademark “I PHONE” and later filed for I Phone as a result of which the I PHONE mark had been abandoned.

DRAWBACKS OF THE iPhone

Various hackers had found an unlock system for the SIM lock in place provided by the AT&T networks.

The phone limits its access to media players and web features unless been activated with an authorized carrier.

iPhone’s operating system can run software having Apple approval which can be overcooked by “jail breaking” the phone involving replacing the phones firmware with a modified software that does not enforce the signature check.

SIM CARD INSERTION IN iPhone

The SIM card can be inserted in the card slot shown as open on the top of the device that can be taken out with a paper clip or a SIM card ejection tool included in the iPhone 3G.

INTERNET CONNECTIONS

When the iPhone is connected to the local area WiFi or a wide area GSM or EDGE networks, the internet can be accessed. The phone, by default jumps to any prompted WiFi networks from the EDGE networks. The iPhone is able to access the internet through a modified version of the web browser and the web pages can be viewed in 2 orientations and supports automatic zooming by pinching the screen or spreading fingers apart for zooming out or double tapping text or images. The iPhone has an emailing feature also supporting HTML that enables the user to embed photos in an email message.

CAMERA OF THE iPhone

iPhone has a built in 2.0 mega pixel camera at the back with no zooming, flash or auto focus and does not even support video conferencing. You can even update, upload, view and mail photos with a software which even interacts with iPhoto and Aperture software on the Mac and Photoshop software on Windows.

Buttons feature of iphone

The three physical switches on the side of the phone of wake/sleep, volume+/- and ringer on/off are made of plastic on the iPhone and metal on iPhone3G.

Audio feature of iphone

The headphones of the iPhone are similar to the present smart phones having a microphone and a multipurpose button that can be used play music, pause music or skip tracks and answer or end the calls without using the iPhone. The top left corner of the phone has a TRS 3.5mm connector. Wireless earphones for the iPhone that use Bluetooth are sold as an accessory to it and even has a loudspeaker that does not support voice recording. Apple also sells a dock connector for the composite and component video at upto 576i and stereo audio output.

Battery feature of iphone

iPhone has a rechargeable built-in battery that is not user replicable as if a battery prematurely reaches the end of its lif then the phone can be exchanged from any Apple showroom if in warranty of one year at the purchase and can be extended to 2 years with Apple Care. Since July 2007 third party battery packs are available at lower costs than Apple’s battery replacement which include a screwdriver and an instruction manual. But the battery of the new I Phone has been soldered in because of which the battery changing requires a soldering iron. It is tatted to that the battery of the iPhone can provide upto 7 hours of video, 6 hours of web browsing, 8 hours of talk time, 24 hours of music or 250 hours of stand by while the iPhone 3G to provide 7 hours video, 6 hours web browsing on WiFi or 5 hours on 3G, 10 hours of 2G talk time o 5 on 3G, 24 hours music or 300 hours stand by.

The initial iPhone had 2 options for the storage that was either a 4GB or 8GB flash drive and soon the phone will release with 16GB memory storage.. The iPhone does not have any memory card lot of additional memory storage..

Other features iphone

iPhone allows video conferencing, call holding, call merging, caller ID, and integration with other cellular network features.

The voice messages can be deleted and listened to.

Another music feature was introduced on the iPhone ranging between 3 to 30 seconds. The customizing can be done in the iTunes and the ring tones can be used as alarms.
