FEATURES AND CONTROVERSIES
FEATURES OF ALAN WAKE
The enemies that come to ‘take care of’ Alan Wake are vulnerable to light so the flashlight can be used to scare them away.
You can place booby traps illuminating when executed.
Light weakens or hurt the enemies where taking advantage of any and all light sources within Alan Wake’s grim world is the most interesting aspects of the gameplay.
A trailer of the game was shown on 15th October 2008, before the Max Payne film premiere.
The title of the game “Alan Wake” is a double entendre as you can see that if you combine the main character’s first initial with his last name forms “A. Wake,” or “Awake”.
A free-roam 3-dimensional city similar to the Grand Theft Auto series has been promised by the developer, Remedy Entertainment where the player would be given certain goals and he will have to go about achieving those goals any ways.
Alan Wake is a character-driven and story-oriented game meaning that the player’s goals and missions are closely focused around Alan Wake and his story.
The setting, the tone and the game being an action thriller set it clearly apart from the GTA games.
Alan Wake features tense combat gameplay, more emphasis on adventure and exploration than Max Payne.
Driving is an integral part of the game.
There will be no multiplayer in this game.
THE CONTROVERSIES OF THE RELEASE DATE
Remedy remains vague about Alan Wake not willing to give any information regarding the date of its release. Though, when asked about a release date, Remedy representatives respond with “When it’s done.”
In an interview in April 2007 on the GamerScore Blog, it said that the game is to be released in 2008 with no exact time frame given.
Remedy’s CFO stated at the site’s forum that Remedy is busy developing the kick-ass game you’ve been waiting for, to reassure the fans of the game still being worked on cautioning against the believing release dates on resellers homepages or noting that the official homepage will be the first to list the release date. The latest Alan Wake trailer was shown at the Max Payne Convention in Finland on October 15th October.
